1. What is catalytic converter ?

The so-called Three Way Catalyst, refersto the exhaust emissions contained in carbon oxides, nitrogen oxides, sulphidesand other toxic substances. A threeway catalyst is a device that converts thesetoxic substances into non-toxic and harmless emissions.

2、working principle of Three Way Catalyst 

The Three Way catalytic device isinstalled in the exhaust channel of the engine, and the toxic gas is convertedby redox reaction. When high temperature exhaust gas passes through thepurification device, the purifying agent in Catalytic can enhance the activityof toxic substances and make them more prone to chemical reactions. In thisway, carbon oxides, sulphides, nitrogen oxides become carbon dioxide, water,nitrogen, oxygen and other harmless gases, and ultimately achieve the purposeof purifying exhaust gas.

3、Performance of the common CatalyticConverter Faults

The fault of Catalytic converter can be light and heavy, and it is aprocess of gradual development. Early minor faults will only lead to thedecline of harmful gas conversion capacity, ternary catalytic device slightblockage, purification efficiency is reduced, intuitive performance for exhaustemissions exceeding the standard.When the blockage reaches a certain level, inaddition to the toxic gas purification capacity decline, but also lead to anincrease in the exhaust back pressure, reaction and engine car fuel consumptionincreased, power decline.If it is not repaired in time, the operatingtemperature of the severely clogged ternary catalyst will increase abnormally,and the high temperature sintering blockage in the front-end stroke. There aretwo kinds of high temperature sintering blockage, metal sintering blockage andcarbon sintering coking blockage. Either way will lead to a serious shortage ofcar power, frequent quenching, and even exhaust trachea burning red to triggerspontaneous combustion.
